The integrity of the country’s judicial system has been the bedrock of investor confidence and businesses decisions to pitch camp in Ghana, but these are fast eroding with allegations of deep-neck corruption and bribery within the Judiciary.
The ease of enforcing contracts, registration of property and insolvency administration are integral parts of the World Bank’s Doing Business Report, and Ghana’s appreciable performance on those parameters had helped in bolstering investor confidence in the economy over the last decade.
However, some legal practitioners, who advise corporate clients and are familiar with what constitutes sound investment climate for businesses, agreed that the allegation of corruption in the judiciary sends wrong and worrying signals to investors, but a swift resolution of the matter, resulting in refining and making the judiciary corrupt-free can swiftly rebound investor confidence.
