Amenfiman Rural Bank supports govt in COVID-19 fight

The Amenfiman Rural Bank Limited at Wasa Akropong in the Western Region has donated items to the government through three local assemblies to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The items, worth about GH¢67,000, was presented to Wasa Amenfi West Municipality, Wasa Amenfi East Municipality and Wasa Amenfi Central District, all in the Western Region.

The items are disposable gloves, nose masks, hospital mattresses and tissue paper. Other items include disposable masks, gun thermometers, Veronica buckets with stands and hand sanitisers.

The CEO of Amenfiman Rural Bank, Dr Alex Asmah, who presented the items on behalf of the bank said the donation was to support government efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Dr Asmah said the donation would also help reinforce all the safety messages and precautionary measures regarding the disease.

The Wasa Amenfi East Municipal Director of Health, Madam Felicia Amissah, who received the items on behalf of the government, said she was thankful to the bank for the kind gesture.

She further expressed her appreciation on behalf of the government for the numerous support the bank had been giving to the assembly and further called on other corporate entities to emulate the Amenfiman example, particularly in this abnormal time COVID 19.

Amenfiman Rural Bank has recorded outstanding operational performance as a financial institution over the past five years and has recorded very significant improvement in all indicators.

The bank recorded a little over GH¢6million as its total share capital as of close of December 2019. It far exceeds Bank of Ghana’s minimum threshold of GH¢1 million mandated for all rural banks to achieve in 2020.

The Amenfiman Rural Bank held the highest share capital in the rural banking industry as of the close of December 2019.

The bank has recorded a consistent growth in its stated capital since 2016 to date and has devised a strategy to realise GH¢10 million worth of shares in four years.
