Each of Alisa's three wings has its own distinctive personality and allure; the Heritage wing was first developed in 2004, followed by the Landmark wing in 2006 and the Pegasus in 2009.
The chairman of the hotel, Mr Kwame Ofosu Bamfo (Sikkens), who through passion and travelling experience visualised Alisa Hotel’s conception, gave an insight into the hotel's current multimillion-dollar expansion project, which he has christened the Alisa Village.
Sikkens, as he is popularly called, said in an interview that the expansion is in line with the vision to maintain Alisa Hotel's status as Accra’s premium business address.
Work on the expansion project is due to be completed in May 2014, and it will recreate the hotel’s brand to boast an additional 98 rooms making a total of 268 rooms, 15 conference halls with an exhibition area, a contemporary gym, a casino and a functional business service centre overlooking a spectacular open lounge to house the front office.
It will also have a new kitchen and a multi-purpose laundry, as well as ultra-modern staff facilities for employees.
The icing on the cake is the 600m2 presidential suite, which is an impressive architectural masterpiece with a tasteful design and a picturesque view of the capital.
Mr Bamfo pointed out that the peaceful political climate and the promising business environment in Ghana has made the country more attractive to tourists, business executives and conference organisers around the world, "And it is our aim to make Alisa Hotel the prime choice when it comes to hotels with impeccable conference facilities."
According to the Chairman, though the expansion of the hotel's facilities will attract more guests, "The quality of our service will not be compromised in anyway."
"We will continue to offer refined and flexible conference and banquet facilities that satisfy the needs of our clients," he assured.
He said the increase in the hotel's facilities would also lead to more employment opportunities that would boost the nation's job-creation drive.
Alisa, he said, had a dedicated team of professionals, who were ever prepared to inject creativity and passion into every detail of guests’ experiences.
“We welcome all business and leisure guests in Ghana and abroad to savour our refined and celebrated contemporary service that offers unrivalled style and exclusivity,” he added.
The General Manager of Alisa Hotel, Mr Marco Cecchi, explained that, "At Alisa, our culture of hospitality requires that we put ourselves in the shoes of the guest.
This ensures that in serving our clients we avoid mistakes."
He said Alisa has developed special training programmes that involve all employees; from the gardeners to the managers, to ensure that the staff have pleasant dispositions at all times. This is why our world-class services are always delivered with smiles - "Smiles are very important in the hospitality business," he stressed.
He appealed to the government to make a conscious effort to enhance leisure tourism by reviewing its visa processes, as well as the taxes, which tend to increase the prices of airline tickets. He added that the country's road network and general transportation system also needed improvement to encourage repeat visits by tourists.
With the completion of the new project next year, Alisa Hotel will undoubtedly be the prime contemporary business hotel in the capital with western chic and an authentic Ghanaian touch.
