Accra hosts ‘Transform Africa’ entrepreneurship school

The founder of Transform Africa, Dr Rollan Roberts, has announced that the organisation will by January 2022, establish an entrepreneurship training institute in Accra to nurture and guide budding entrepreneurs to scale up their businesses to the global level.

He said the organisation was engaging with the government and the business community to learn at first hand, the challenges that were pulling Ghanaian entrepreneurs behind and design tailor made programmes to help address such challenges.

Scale up

“We choose Ghana because we believe the environment was right but also because you realise that African brands are not able to go beyond Africa because the entrepreneurs are not ready or trained enough to operate globally,” he said.

He said many countries in Sub Saharan Africa were finding ways to solve complex, systematic and structural challenges that hindered development, hence the need to empower entrepreneurs, especially the youth to compete globally.

“Ghana can lead this continent and as the centre of the world, it shows how well positioned the country is but that is not enough because Ghana has a stable democracy, it's safe and there is the presence of a free press which offers the right conditions to invest in the country” he said.

Infrastructure

He said the government must begin to put in place the needed infrastructure that would create the enabling environment for the development of entrepreneurship ventures that can compete at the global stage.

He said challenges like access to clean water, entrepreneurship education, food security, and national security must be addressed.

TransformAfrica, he said, would help and facilitate strategic impactful investment to accelerate the economic, technological, educational, social and healthcare transformation of Africa.

“As the second-largest continent in the world representing 15 percent of the world’s population (1.352 billion), Africa is the last greatest continent for extraordinary social and economic development that directly affects 70 percent of the world’s youth by 2030,” he said.

Dr Roberts is a member of the United States delegation to South Sudan assisting with the stabilisation of the government and is an advisor to national governments on matters of national security, entrepreneurship, education, and water.

In addition to being nominated to the Central Command Task Force for the Department of Defense and receiving African diplomatic designation of “His Excellency,” Dr. Roberts has a Doctorate degree in Global Business and Entrepreneurship, founded the African Diplomatic Entrepreneur Summit, and the International Down Syndrome CEO Camp, authored 4 international best-selling books, is Chairman of the Board for the International Association of Pageantry, and spoke to China’s government on the U.S.-China Trade War at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.
