Coach Augustt to stage comeback

After three years of hibernation, a former Accra Great Olympics coach, Ken Augustt, is ready to take up a coaching role on the local scene next year.

The experienced coach told the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday that he was ready to deploy his managerial acumen to address the slow pace of the game in the country and also inject some fresh ideas into Ghana football.

Coach Augustt, who is currently unattached, said he would want to take up a role in any first or second-tier side but would also not resist an offer to handle any of the national teams.

According to him, his pedigree in the field towered above most of the coaches who were handling some of the national teams now and believed he could easily take charge of any of the national teams with his 30 years of experience.

“I am far ahead of most of those coaching in some of the national teams in terms of pedigree and experience”, he stated, exalting his credentials as a CAF Licence A, B and C holder with the capacity to transform any struggling team into winning side.

His impressive career, which spans from 1987, has seen him coach many local clubs such as Olympics, Heart of Lions, Tema Youth, Power FC, Real Sportive, Okwawu United and AC Olympiakos.

The organiser of the Ghana Soccer Coaches Association said despite being unattached in the last few years, his services were highly sought after by other coaches who engaged him for technical advice, as well as for scouting purposes.

That, he said, had kept him active even though he was not on the field, while insisting that after watching the game from a distance, the time had come for him to step onto the pitch to do what he loved most.
