The committee, under the chairmanship of the Divisional Chief of Gbesedorm, Nene Daniel Terkpertey Omersu VI, was tasked to arbitrate disputes between the Tsangmer and Gbese-Terkworsi clans within the traditional area.

Other members of the committee were the Divisional Chief of Klekpa, Nene Tetteh Sabaa Atukplai IV; the Chief of Akuse, Nene Teye Titriku,  and Swapolor, the Chief of Kasunya, Nene Narteh Otutoto Akakposu V. The others are the Stool Elder of the paramountcy, Numo Seyelor Teye Sokpoli and the sub-chief of Osuwem, Asafoatse Kwesi Nyarko III.

The rest were the State Linguist, Numo Dominic Teye Aborbi, the Public Relations Officer of the traditional council, Mr George Amanor, and an elder at the paramountcy, Douglas Peter Narh Animle.

Terms of reference

The committee that was established in June, 2016, was tasked to, among other things, ascertain whether the Tsangmer Clan had been or was part of the Klekpa Division and whether Tsangmer had been or is a division in the Osudoku Traditional Area.

The committee was also to explore the history of the Ogbe-Assumeng Stool of Gbese-Terkworsi, the kingmakers of the Ogbe-Assumeng Stool and the rightful family to accede to the throne.

In addition, the committee was to find out the processes for the installation of the divisional chiefs of Terkworsi and other relevant issues that the committee deemed fit to promote development in the traditional area.

The committee, which was expected to give recommendation in each case, submitted its report to the traditional council at Osuwem, the capital town of the traditional area.

Commendation

Receiving the report, the paramount chief of the Osudoku Traditional Area, Nene Aadegbor Ngmongmowuyaa Kwesi Animle VI, expressed appreciation to the committee for their dedication and commitment to the assignment given them.

He said the traditional council would painstakingly study the report and the recommendations for the way forward.

Nene Animle said the council was taking steps to register all the chiefs in the traditional area to enable them to perform their expected roles effectively. He explained that because most of the chiefs were not gazetted, they could not seat on chieftaincy cases in their respective jurisdictions, a situation he described as not the best.

Response

The chairman of the committee, Nene Daniel Terkpertey Omersu, lauded members for their coperation and contributions. He said the recommendations in the report, when implemented, would go a long way to bring sanity to chieftaincy issues in the traditional area.
