The new block is to replace the school’s old Kindergarten building.

Dr Ogbordjor is a private medical practitioner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Klass Group of Companies.

He decided to put up the school building following a request from the school authorities for assistance.

At a ceremony to inaugurate the block at Yawkwei, Dr Ogbordjor said it had always been his desire to support education in the district.

He said improving educational facilities was one way of creating a conducive atmosphere for both teaching and learning and was hopeful that the school would grow to achieve distinction in all areas of academic pursuit.

He urged pupils of the school to make good use of the facility and also encouraged the management to ensure that the building was properly maintained.

The role of quality education

The Welfare Officer at the Asante Akyem District Directorate of Education, Nana Boakye Yiadom, said education played a critical role in the socio-economic development of any society.

He said as the country progressed, facilities that promoted qualitative teaching and learning, such as durable infrastructure, could not be left out.

He called on parents to always strengthen ties with teachers in order for the two groups to effectively supervise studies of children under their care.

Gratitude

The Headmistress of the school, Madam Vida Boapea, said the school had not received any significant support since it was built in 1971 and expressed gratitude to Dr Ogbordjor for his kind gesture.

She called on charitable organisations and individuals to lend the school a hand of support to make it an institution of choice in the district.
