The annual charity concert was aimed at raising funds of over GH¢60,000 to refurbish and provide the necessary materials, as well as logistics at the maternity blocks of the

Tamale and Efia Nkwanta hospitals in the Northern and Western regions, respectively.

It is aimed at complementing the government’s efforts to achieve Goal Five of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which seeks to improve the country’s maternal health ratio by 75 per cent by the year 2025.

The concert attracted popular Ghanaian artistes such as Efya, Becca, Irene Logan and the Accra Symphony Orchestra, who thrilled the guests to good tunes of their music, which held their audience spellbound.

They also pledged their support for the fight against maternal mortality.

The charity concert started in 2011 to support and assist maternity blocks in various hospitals across the country.

The concert was organised by Outlook Minik (OM) in Accra.

Donations

Various organisations and associations, such as the Ministry for Gender, Children and Social Protection, made contributions towards the worthy cause.

Additionally, an appeal for funds was made at the show to raise funds to support the initiative.

The Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Gifty Twum Ampofo, applauded the organisers of the concert for the initiative.

She pledged the ministry’s continuous support towards the well-being of women, children and the underprivileged in society.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Outlook Minik, Mr Dominic Oduro-Antwi, expressed appreciation for the support that had been given to the project since its introduction.
