Salvation Army donates to flood victims at Agona Nyakrom

The Salvation Army-Ghana Territory, under the leadership of Colonel Joseph Lukau, has distributed relief items worth $20,000 to victims of a recent flood at Agona Nyakrom in the Agona West District in the Central Region.

The over 500 victims received assorted items that included rice, cooking oil, second-hand clothes, fabrics and cash.

Presentation

The Secretary of Programmes of the Church, Lt Col. Samuel Kyeremeh, who made the presentation, said the church was touched by appeals from the people in the aftermath of the floods.

Lt. Col Kyeremeh, together with the Director of Medical and Social Services of the church, Mr Paul Bamfo, took time to educate the people on the need to ensure clean environmental practices in their respective communities.

The people were also advised to avoid building on waterways to allow free flow of water.

The two further entreated the government, non-governmental organisations and other benevolent individuals to also come to the aid of the people.

Appreciation

The Gyantoahene of Nyakrom, Nana Odum VII, who received the items on behalf of the victims and the traditional council, expressed appreciation to the Salvation Army Church and appealed to the government for more assistance.
