Briefing journalists on the ceremony, the Chief Executive of Neogenics Education, Mr Grant Bulmuo, said the awards had already been launched so the public was being encouraged to submit nominations and supporting evidence.

”Online nomination forms will be made available on our website,” he said, adding that a panel of judges would be composed to assess each nomination entered.

Mr Bulmuo said the submission of nominations would end on March 30, 2016 with the award ceremony slated for Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra.

With the slogan, “EDUCOM Awards – Celebrating education excellence”, he said the winners would receive winners’ trophy/plaque, a certificate, and in some cases education resources, adding, “highly commended second-placed nominees will also receive certificates”.

Background

Giving a background, Mr Bulmuo said the award was to identify positive contributions within the education community in the country, explaining that, “it is also to recognise all the valuable education-related work that is undertaken within schools and our communities across Ghana by schools, students/pupils, parents, media houses, publishers, agencies, NGOs, other organisations, individuals and players in education”.

He said it would create a platform for networking and effective collaboration among the various players in education, and appealed to the business community to partner his organisation to acknowledge and reward hard work and excellence.

He said the organisers were putting in place a comprehensive marketing campaign and assured the corporate world of value for money for their sponsorship.
