Thrills at Baj Freight Junior Tennis League

Juvenile tennis stars who thronged the Sakumono Tennis Club last Saturday to participate in the opening of the 2017 Baj Freight Youth Tennis League left spectators asking for more as they displayed amazing skills which drew loud cheers from the packed crowd.

The enthusiastic players participated in round-robin competitions in under-16, u-14, u-12, u-10 and u-8 for both boys and girls.

Benjamin Glover and Kenneth Adjokatse engaged in the most exciting game in the boys’ under-14 event, which 13-year-old Kenneth, a member of the national under-12 team, won 4-2.

In the boys’ under-16 event, Gabriel Obimpeh beat Ezekiel Appiah 4-1, Louis Nyaaba defeated Prince Peprah 4-1 and went on to thump Robert Mensah 4-0.
Aku Addo triumphed 4-2 over Faustina Anim while Lawrencia Manu defeated Elizabeth Malissio 4-3 in the girls’ under-14 division.

The girls’ u-12 event also saw Michelin Wemegah beating Okailey Addo 4-0 with Sakinatu Adams thrashing Nana Achaa Akwaboah 4-1.

For their efforts, all the participants were presented with medals while the exceptional players received souvenirs from sponsors.

The next round of matches of monthly league, which is aimed at promoting education and health, as well as to unearth talents in the Sakumono, Tema and Ashaiman areas, comes off on March 11 at the GHACEM Tennis Club at Tema.
