Excitement galore at Golden Tulip anniversary tennis

It was fun and excitement as tennis enthusiasts in the country gathered last Saturday to witness the 25th Anniversary Tennis Tournament of leading 4-star hotel, Golden Tulip Accra.

Golden Tulip Tennis club members and the Volta River Authority (VRA) tennis club were the two teams which battled each other for the prestigious cup at stake.

The keenly contested tournament saw the VRA team take a slight edge over Team Tulip with an overall win of 7 matches to 5.

The winners from both teams included: Alex Laryea, Ali Zokart, Miro Hitti and Sampson Sayibu of Tulip; Nana Yaw Akoto and Kofi Djimadjor of VRA.

Team VRA dominated the men’s double. Winners of the VRA team included Daniel Aggrey/Paa Grant, Nii Lokko/Akim, Alfred Okine/Cyril Bansah and Johnny Bravo/Ernest Okyere. The Tulip Winners were Eli Markham and Sampson Sayibu.

The Ladies singles saw a win for both teams with Shanon Lamptey (VRA) and Miro Mitti (Tulip) edging past their opponents in a fierce contest amidst cheers from the visiting team and home crowd.

Winners were presented with trophies and complimentary Sunday Brunch Vouchers at the Branche Restaurant of Golden Tulip.

In his welcome address, the General Manager of Golden Tulip Accra, Mr. Paul Kavanagh, informed members that the hotel had earmarked a range of activities in the month of

November to mark its Silver Jubilee and was proud to light it up with a tennis tournament for its loyal club members and the VRA club who have enjoyed a very friendly rivalry over the years.

He thanked Star Life Assurance for partnering the hotel to host the tournament and urged the public, especially Golden Tulip’s numerous clients to join the facility as it marks 25 years of Leadership in Ghana’s Hospitality Industry.
