Win the CAF Champions League trophy for Ghana: Konongohene challenges Ashgold

The founder of Owerriman Football Club, Nana Batafo Acheampong Nti, has challenged the technical team and players of Champion Club, Ashgold, to be adequately motivated by the $1.5 million budget support by management on their CAF Champions League campaign by putting up a splendid performance to win the trophy for Ghana in many years.

While tasking the technical team to collaborate with management to organise  series of warm up matches that will put the players in good shape prior to the CAF Champions League preliminary  rounds, he said it was equally important for the players to exhibit exemplary discipline on and off the pitch to enable them to achieve the ultimate goal.

“Ghana has been recognised as a football country worldwide for many years, but the CAF Champions League trophy has eluded us on countless occasions, hence the need for Ashgold to be more focused in this campaign to enable them to win the trophy for Ghana”, Nana Acheampong, who is also the Konongohen

“That is why I am imploring the players of Ashgold to be disciplined on and off the pitch and take their training very seriously to enable them to write their names in gold just as TP Mezembe did this year” he noted.

He said it was equally important for the technical team to be impartial in the selection of players to feature in certain matches.  Explaining, he said the failure of some teams to perform well could be attributed to some biases of their technical team which selected players without recourse to their current form.

Nana Acheampong Nti also urged management not only to develop their pitch to meet international standard, but also provide the players with the necessary kits with the view to motivating them to play above themselves in both their home and away matches.

“A good team should win home matches, and also perform very well in away matches. With the quality of players in the team now, coupled with  the technical expertise of their technical team, as well as the motivation by management, there is no way that Ashgold should disappoint Ghanaians when they go to Africa.” he emphasised.
