Who can stop Spinners - In Stanbic, Graphic Sports table tennis league

With the table tennis league expected to take a break after this weekend, the question on most people’s minds is whether leaders, Tesano Spinners could be dethroned at the ongoing Stanbic-Graphic Sports table tennis league.

Spinners over the weekend stretched their lead further at the top to 63 points, after downing defending champions, Immigration, in a pulsating encounter at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall in Accra.

Having beaten their toughest challengers, Spinners now seem confident enough to face the others and would seek to extend their lead further when they come up against Eastern Loopers in the fourth week fixture tomorrow.

Against Eastern Loopers in one of the first matches of the day, the Ahmed Bello and Rilwan Akanbi led Spinners are expected to walk the strugglers who are 11th on the log.
In other matches Army will face-off with Ashanti Otumfuo Stars, Team Coach Addo versus Navy, Ashaiman Power Club against Fire, Police meet Western Table Tennis Club, while Ghana Revenue Authority and Madina Stars both get byes.

In the round two matches Immigration will face Otumfuo Stars, Loopers will meet Army, Madina Stars against Navy, Team Coach Addo versus Kings’ Royal Academy, Ashaiman Club versus Western Table Tennis Club, Synergy Club versus Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Spinners play Fire.

In the ladies encounter, Spinners will meet Madina Club, Team Coach Addo against Western Table Tennis Club, GRA against Immigration and Ashanti Otumfuor Stars and Navy gets a bye.

In the second matches of the ladies division, Madina Stars and Western Table Tennis Club get a bye, while Spinners clash with Navy.

The rest of the matches will see Army against GRA, Team Coach Addo versus Immigration and Ashanti Otumfuo Star face-off with Police.

Meanwhile, the league is expected to take a three-week break after these matches, to make way for Team Ghana to compete in the upcoming West Africa Open in Lagos.
