Nketiah, who recently joined Palace from Arsenal in a £30 million deal, opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a powerful shot from a tight angle. The 25-year-old striker, who signed a five-year contract with the South London club, was the fifth summer signing for manager Oliver Glasner.
Crystal Palace looked in control throughout the first half, but a second-half surge from Championship side QPR brought the game level. On 53 minutes, Sam Field capitalized on a failed clearance from Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson to score the equalizer.
Palace quickly responded just 10 minutes later, with Eberechi Eze scoring the decisive goal against his former club. Eze made a dynamic run from his own half before firing a shot that deflected past QPR’s Joe Walsh, sealing the win for the Premier League side.
Despite QPR’s late pressure, including a close chance for Alfie Lloyd, Palace held on for the win—only their second victory in all competitions this season. Manager Oliver Glasner, who has expressed confidence in his team’s chances in the Carabao Cup, will be hoping for a deep run in the competition.
