Tennis: Na-Adjrago, Quartey in semis

Wisdom Na-Adjrago yesterday extended his unbeaten run in the ongoing Accra Open Tennis tournament after thumping Bernard Ashitey Armaah 6-3, 6-3 to qualify for the semi-finals of the men's singles category.

The two-time National Ranking Tour winner defeated Stephen Nortey 6-3, 6-2 last Wednesday before showing Bernard Ashitey the exit from the competition which is held in memory of late President John Evans Atta Mills.

"I am so happy to qualify for the semis because I work so hard each day to win the ultimate prize.  With God on my side I am confident another victory will be mine at the end of the tournament," he said.

Also in contention for the GH¢7,500 cash prize and mouth-watering products from the sponsors are Daniel Anum Quartey who beat Isaac Titriku 3-6, 7-5, 6-0, Emmanuel Plange who triumphed 6-2, 6-2 over Kwabena Ofosu-Bamfo and Benjamin Fumi who also beat Jeff Bagerbaseh 7-6, 7-3.

In the girls’ Under-16 Division, Eleona Ankrah beat Yayrah Kumashi 6-3, 6-3, Cindy Aidoo scored 6-2, 6-1 against Lawrencia Aghoghobia, Adwoa Aggrey-Sey walloped Sekina Adams 6-4, 6-2, while Genevive Kattah won 6-1, 6-0 against Patricia Nyarko.
