The visit was to seek the support and prayers of the chiefs to ensure victory in his upcoming world title fight against Argentine David Saucedo at the newly constructed boxing gymnasium at Bukom on November 25.

The delegation also sought to invoke the spirits of the gods to fortify Tagoe in his first-ever lightweight world title bout against the Argentine.

Last Monday’s visit to the Ga Mantse palace in Accra saw the management of BabyJet Promotions presenting eight bottles of schnapps and an undisclosed amount of money to Nii Doodu Nsaki II, Otublohum Mantse and acting president of the Ga Traditional Council.

The rest of the chiefs were Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayibonte II, Sempe Mantse Nii Adote Otintor II, and Nii Ayikai III, Akammajay Mantse.

The chiefs prayed for him and called on the gods to protect and guide him throughout the 12 rounds of the bout.

Nii Ayibonte asked  Tagoe to be attentive and focus on his opponent. He charged the whole nation to throw their weight behind the boxer.

Tagoe thanked the chiefs and promised to win the title and bring it to them as a gratitude for their support.
