Table Tennis: Talented Rabiatu on the rise

Rabiatu Naa Ayorkor Ofoli was born on July 23, 2002 at La, Accra, in the Greater Accra Region.

She is a Ghanaian professional table tennis and badminton player. She was trained to play table tennis by Coach Yarboi, the former Greater Accra coach, and later by Coach Anang Whyte, the Eastern Regional coach.

Rabiatu was later introduced to badminton by Felix Amasah, a national badminton player, and joined St. Stephen's Presby Senior High School in the Eastern Region and won many trophies for them.

She led her team to win the zonal and super zonal competitions from 2011-2014. She also won silver in the inter-regional competition in Kumasi.She took part in the national Under 18 tournament in the year 2016 but luck was not on her side as she was beaten by Georgina Hackman in the semi-finals and eventually finished fourth.

With education as her main focus, Rabiatu gained admission at the Accra Technical University (ATU) in 2016 to study Fashion Design and Textile. This year, she was privileged to represent the school at the Inter-Polytechnic (GHAPSA) Games in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. Rabiatu participated in table tennis, badminton and handball and her spectacular showing earned her two gold and one silver.

She was later adjudged the Best Female Sports Personality of the Year by Accra Technical University. That feat has resulted in her nomination as the Best Sports Personality of the Year 2017 in the Ghana Tertiary Awards UMB 2017.

The young prodigy began her club career with Ghana Navy Table Tennis Club and currently features for Team Coach Addo.
