Announcing the capture of the Nigerian boxing prospect, Streetwise Management said in a statement, “Streetwise Management is pleased to announce the signing of stand-out Nigerian amateur welterweight Abdul-Afeez Osoba. Osoba will be making his debut soon in Lagos and is one of the most decorated amateurs to come out of Nigeria in recent years”.
“He is a five-time national champion and has won numerous African titles. His amateur record stands at 80 fights with 74 wins and only six losses. Osoba’s last amateur outing was in last year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham UK where he was a quarter-finalist,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Streetwise Management, Michael Amoo-Bediako has described Osoba as a promising talent who has the potential of becoming a world champion.
Mr Amoo-Bediako told Graphic Sports he was ready to nurture the Nigerian’s talent to help him become a world champion in the future.
“We first saw him when our partner, Saleh Gloves, sent him to the UK for a training camp and we had him at the TW1 boxing gym in Ongar, Essex in the UK under the watchful eye of promising new trainer Bill Whitrod where he impressed which lead us to offer him a managerial contract.
“We will be working with Saleh Fawaz of Saleh Gloves to push Osoba's career further. We have high hopes for him and he will initially start his career back home in Nigeria where we will keep close eyes on him and monitor his progress before bringing him to the UK at some point to further his career,” said Mr Amoo-Bediako.
