Stephen Appiah donates X Natural Mineral Water to Stars

Former Black Stars captain and brand ambassador of X Natural Mineral Water, Stephen "Tornado" Appiah, has donated 400 packs of bottled water to the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

Presenting the items at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Secretariat in Accra yesterday, Appiah said he was hopeful that his widow's mite would be a boost to the team when they host Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Cape Coast tomorrow.

Appiah’s remarks

He stated that as a former player and technical team member of the team, he could testify that water was a key ingredient during preparations for national team assignments.

"This is a special day for me because I am a former footballer who played for the national team and I know how essential water is during a national training camp," Appiah said.

"When we train, we use water, and at dining we use water; that is why I am here as a brand ambassador and on behalf of X Natural Mineral Water to donate 400 packs of water. I also wish the team all the best in Thursday's match and we will be here to support them."

GFA’s response

Receiving the donation, the Head of Marketing at GFA, Jamil Maraby, expressed gratitude to X Mineral Water and commended Appiah for spearheading the charitable gesture.

"We thank X Mineral Water and the former national team captain, the legend Stephen Appiah. For us it's very significant that he himself is giving it to his players, and like he said, water is very important to the team, and hopefully, we will make them proud by winning the three points," he assured.

Supporting 'Bring Back the Love' mantra

In an interview on the sideline of the presentation ceremony, the Sales Coordinator of X Natural Mineral Water, Felix Ebo Mensah, disclosed that the company was currently exploring a partnership with the GFA to become the official water provider of the Black Stars.

He said the donation was in response to the clarion call by the GFA President, Kurt Okraku, to corporate bodies to support football in the country.
