Spintex Knights secure dominant win, claim top spot in Accra Basketball League
Spintex Knights showcased their dominance in the Accra Basketball League Men's Division 1 as they emerged victorious with a commanding 89-55 win over the University of Ghana last Saturday at the Prisons Basketball Court in Accra. With this triumph, the Knights are poised to finish the first round as the league leaders.

The undefeated Knights currently sit at the top of the 10-team league standings. Although they are tied on 16 points with the Braves, they hold an advantage with a game in hand over the defending champions, who have already completed their first-round fixtures.
The Knights' triumph was a result of a remarkable team effort, with multiple players stepping up and making significant contributions. James Amotoe, Elvis Pobi Siaw, Nigel Jason Quaynor, and point guard Treasure Botchway delivered standout performances that caught the eye of spectators.
When they were not mesmerizing their opponents with their impressive skills, Knights coach Selorm Thomas outwitted his counterpart by calling plays with code names of European countries, including Serbia, Denmark, and Spain.
However, the University of Ghana put up a commendable fight in the early stages of the game, holding their ground for large parts of the contest. Their spirited play forced Knights coach Thomas to make strategic interventions during the first half.
Diminutive point guard Bobby Adjei and Samuel Appiah proved to be thorns in the Knights' defense, but their efforts were gradually nullified as the game progressed.
The first quarter ended with the Knights leading 24-13 against the University of Ghana. The second quarter concluded with a score of 31-21 in favor of the Knights. At the end of the third quarter, the Knights extended their lead to 42-24. The final quarter saw the Knights seal their victory with a resounding scoreline of 89-55 which was drummed home with an impressive coast-to-coast dunk slammed home by James Amotoe.

In a post-game interview, point guard Botchway, who had his best performance of the season thus far, expressed his satisfaction with the team's shooting prowess. Botchway also expressed his determination to continue improving and securing a starting position in the second half of the season.
On the other hand, University of Ghana captain Appiah attributed his team's loss to their failure to adhere to coaching instructions. However, he remained hopeful that they would bounce back and return to winning ways in their upcoming matches.
With their impressive performance and top position in the league, Spintex Knights have firmly established themselves as strong contenders in the Accra Basketball League Men's Division 1, while the University of Ghana looks to regroup and rediscover their winning form in the subsequent games.
