Satellites shocked in Senegal

Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Satellites, last Saturday suffered a setback in their quest to qualify for the Africa Youth Championship when they lost 1-3  in their first leg final qualifiers at the Demba Diouf Stadium in Dakar.

The young Terenga Lions were full of fight from the blast of the whistle and made nonsense of the strong squad mounted by Coach Mas-Ud Dramani as their promising striker Ibrahima  Niang, scored twice in the first half to give his side the advantage over the Satellites.

The Satellites were led in attack by Dauda Mohammed but that did little to deter the Lions, who were full of energy and deserved their victory.

However, it was Jonathan Osabutey who scored the only goal of the match to give the Ghanaians a gleamer of hope.

The Satellites would have to score two goals against the Senegalese in the second leg a forthnight later in Ghana.

The team is expected back in Ghana in the next 48 hours to begin preparations for the second leg.
