Saka’s Enyimba deal off - Rules out Aduana return

Aduana Stars skipper, Godfred Saka, has ruled out an extension of his contract with the club after his supposed move to Nigerian giants Enyimba collapsed at the last hour.

Saka, who had been on trials with Enyimba for over a week, saw his deal with Enyimba fail with the Nigerian outfit willing to keep him for further two weeks in order to check his fitness before signing him.

The 29-year-old defender disagreed with the Nigerian club on the grounds that they were not serious with the deal; and, therefore, decided to close that chapter and return home.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports from his Nigeria base, Saka ruled out a move back to Aduana, saying the Ghana Premier League champions neglected him during his time on the sidelines with injury.

He said there were times when he had to pay from his pocket to see a physiotherapist after he had exhausted money gave him to treat himself.

"I will not be signing for Enyimba because I don't think the club is serious about the deal. They told my agent that they want to keep me for the next two weeks to check my fitness.

"But I don't want to extend my contract with Aduana either because of the way the club treated me during my injury. There were times when I had to pay with my own cash to see a physio," said Saka who is out of contract and now a free agent.

Saka's stance could get giants Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko on alert as they look to strenghten their sides ahead of the new Premier League campaign early next year.

Aduana are, however, willing to extend the influential Saka's contract which ended after the season, but the player prefers joining a different club.

The right-back had been a transfer target for both Kotoko and Hearts over the years and his declaration not to sign for Aduana could renew their interest in him.

When asked about any possibility of joining a local side, Saka said he was yet to receive an offer from any club in the country but would consider any move that would comes his way.
