Rowing and Canoe Association president to officiate in Olympic qualifiers

The president of the Ghana Rowing and Canoe Association, Mr Kamal Sulley, departed Accra last Monday to officiate in the 2023 Canoe Sprint World Cup in Poznan, Poland, from May 26 to 28.

The event which serves as a qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympics will see the participation of 46 countries, including Australia, Argentina, China, Denmark and Czech Republic.

Before his departure he told the Daily Graphic that officiating at the competition will garner him enough experience to impart to Ghanaian officials back home.

"We are going to adopt new rules of the games and rules of the 2024 Olympics in Paris so it is a very important competition and I hope to teach our officials in Ghana here the experience I will gain in Poland", he stated.

He revealed that his outfit would also prepare a seminar to improve the knowledge of officials in Ghana upon his return.

He called on corporate bodies to support rowing and canoeing.

Mr Sulley is expected to be back on Monday, May 29.
