Razak: Give me national team to coach

Former assistant coach of the Black Stars, Abdul Karim Razak, has made a passionate appeal to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to offer him an appointment to coach any of the national teams.

According to Razah, ever since his appointment as assistant to Giuseppe Dossena, (a former Italian-born Stars head coach), was truncated in 2001, he had always been sidelined at the national level in spite of his expertise and experience in the art of football coaching.

Expressing concern about the situation during an interview with the Graphic Sports, Razak, who also captained the Stars in the 80s, said his appointment as deputy to Dossena came at the time when he was engaged by the Dragons in Benin.

“I am not only a Licence A holder, but with the requisite experience in coaching at both club and national teams.

“In Benin, apart from my regular salary, I was also given a vehicle and accommodation but I had to terminate that contract and rush to Ghana to help the national team” he bemoaned.

“Sadly when I was relieved of my position as assistant to Dossena I was assigned to the national U-12 team which was not even in place, and ever since, I have not been considered for any national coaching job.

“I served my country as a player and won many trophies at the club and national levels, and as a coach, I have proved that I am not a novice.

Besides coaching top clubs in Ghana to win laurels, my name is a household one in West Africa and beyond, so I wonder why I am being sidelined when it comes to national duties in football coaching,” Abdul Razak lamented

The former Kotoko head coach said, he was prepared to offer his services to any of the national teams,” he stressed.
