Randy Abbey, an executive member of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), has rejected an appointment by the soccer controlling body to head the Black Queens Management Committee.

Barely two weeks ago the Executive Committee of the GFA, in a re-organisation of the committees of the various national teams, handed the chairmanship of the senior women’s national team to Abbey, a former spokesman of the FA.

The reshuffle also saw George Afriyie taking over the Black Stars management committee from Kwesi Nyantakyi, the GFA president, with Kudjoe Fianoo as vice-chairman.

In a letter dated December 1, 2004, Abbey stated: ‘ I am unable to take the appointment’, recommending that the FA should consider Ms Linear Addy, the vice-chairperson of the committee.

He argued: ‘Miss Leanier Addy is the only elected female member of Executive Committee and has been the vice chairperson of the committee since 2011 and I believe she deserves to head the committee.

I do not think it is fair and does not promote affirmative action,” he added.
