Prudential Bank's Step Challenge returns with World Cup twist to boost employee wellness

Prudential Bank has officially launched the second edition of its Step Challenge, a health and fitness initiative running from July to the end of September, designed to foster a culture of well-being across the bank.

The 2026 edition, which embraces healthy lifestyles, promotes teamwork, camaraderie and work-life balance, takes a unique twist, with participants virtually journeying through all 48 participating World Cup nations, starting from New Zealand and crowning it in Ghana.

Speaking on the launch, Head of Human Resources, Lilian Antwiwaa Asante, highlighted that the drive goes beyond fitness and reflects the Bank's resolve in creating a supportive and people-centred workplace.

"We believe that our people are our greatest asset, and their well-being remains a priority. The Step Challenge is not just about counting steps as a team or as individuals; it is about encouraging healthier lifestyles, strengthening relationships across teams and branches as well as creating opportunities for colleagues to connect outside of their day-to-day responsibilities. We want our employees to thrive both professionally and personally," she said.

Ms Asante noted that the Step Challenge has become an important part of the Bank's internal culture and demonstrates how employee engagement initiatives can positively impact organisational performance.

"Strong institutions are built on strong relationships. Initiatives such as these help break down silos, encourage collaboration and create shared experiences among colleagues across the Bank. It is also a reminder that employee wellness and engagement are essential ingredients for a productive and resilient organisation as well as an investment in a happier and more productive workforce," she said.

She further noted that by incorporating the World Cup theme into this year's challenge, the Bank is creating an experience that is not only engaging and interactive but also celebrates teamwork, diversity and a collective sense of purpose.
