Professional Boxing League: Abban victory highlights Fight Night 12
Michael Abban of Black Panthers Gym and Godwin Tetteh of Bridge Boxing Gym served a classic that got fans applauding after six gruelling rounds of action during Fight Night 12 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League at the Bukom Boxing Arena last Saturday.

The last contest of Fight Night 12, which travelled into the wee hours of Sunday morning, was a thriller by all standards and worth the wait as the two fighters exhibited impressive ring craft and punching power, keeping the fans glued to their seats throughout the bout.
A knockdown suffered by Tetteh midway into the bantamweight bout became very decisive and left little doubt on the minds of fans as Abban scored a unanimous points victory, with the judges scoring the fight 60-54, 59-55, 60-54. it
In what turned out to be a night of knockouts, Patrick Okine set the tone for others to emulate as he recorded a second round technical knockout (TKO) victory over Alex Yarteh in an eight-round lightweight contest.
Yarteh was on the receiving end of intense pummelling by Okine, and compelled referee Daniel Ablormeti to step in and stop the contest 2:19 minutes into the second round.
Mustapha Kamoko, exhibiting the punching power his famous father Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) was noted for, stopped his opponent Henry Ashie with a second round TKO win in their flyweight encounter.
Referee Nathaniel Obeng stopped the fight 2:25 minutes into the second round after a powerful left blow sent Ashie crashing onto the canvas in pain and unable to continue.
Perhaps inspired by the earlier fights, stocky Elvis Ahorgah won his fight in similar fashion as he scored a second round knockout victory over Jonas Quarshie in their catch-weight contest.
Even though both fighters suffered a knock down each, Ahorgah's landed more solid punches which sent his opponent kissing the canvas, as referee David Nettey declared the fight over 2:49 minutes into the round.
In other bouts, Mohammed Fuseini of Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation (CQBF) defeated John Oblitey Commey of Ghana Prison Service via a fourth round knockout in a super-bantamweight contest, while teenage sensation Cann Kotey Neequaye of Wisdom Gym had little trouble dispatching his opponent Jacob Tetteh of Fit Square Gym in the opening round of their bantamweight contest.
Paul Sackey of Akotoku Academy earned a unanimous points win against Nedjo Djouassi of Seconds Out Gym, while Thomas Laryea of the Ghana Armed Forces had an easy payday with a first round knockout victory against Rocky Otoo of Sea View Gym in a middleweight encounter.
Michael Bibi of Attoh Quarshie Gym earned a unanimous points victory against Sunday Adeleye of The Gym in a six-round super-lightweight contest, with the judges scoring the bout 59-55, 58-56, 58-56.
Emmanuel Quartey of the Bronx Gym was too strong for Bismark Quaye of Panix Gym as he stopped his opponent 1:02 minutes into the second round for a TKO victory in their lightweight encounter.
After Fight Night 12, CBQF jumped to the top spot of the league table with 28 points, followed in second position by Bronx Gym (27 points), with third-placed Ghana Armed Forces and Akotoku Academy tied on 26 points each.
At the bottom spot of the 14-team table is Seconds Out Gym with three points representing one win and 11 losses.
