The commitment was made during the club's league trophy presentation at the Jubilee House on August 2nd, 2023.

Leading the delegation for this occasion was George Mireku Duker, the Deputy Minister for Mines and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Takwa. The delegation included chiefs from the Apinto Traditional Council, Dr. Tony Aubynn, the club's Board Chairman, Head Coach Evans Augustine Adotey, as well as other management and technical team members, and the players.

Medeama SC is set to take on Nigeria's Remo Stars in the Champions League preliminary round at the Cape Coast Stadium on August 20th, with the return leg scheduled for August 27th.

President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to assist the club in their continental engagements, stating, "I will try to provide a million Ghana Cedis to help you in the CAF campaign. The deputy minister insists that if I'm in Ghana on the 20th, I should come to Cape Coast. I'll see. We'll do our best to assist in your continental engagements this year, to ensure you have a successful tilt."

Moreover, the President congratulated Medeama on their historic achievement of winning their first-ever league trophy. With 60 points, the yellow and mauves triumphed over Aduana Stars to claim the crown, ending the Western Region's 47-year wait for a league title since Sekondi Hasaacas' victory in 1977.

President Akufo-Addo applauded the team, stating, "Congratulations to you, the captain, and the members of the team for this historic achievement. It's been 47 years since a team from the Western Region won the cup. This is great. You've done a great job. Congratulations."

In addition to their continental campaign, Medeama SC is also set to engage in an international friendly with Major League Soccer club, D.C. United, at Audi Field in the USA on October 14.

This special encounter will contribute to the celebration of African culture in Washington, D.C. President Akufo-Addo conveyed his well-wishes, saying, "I understand that you have been invited to Washington in the month of October for Ghana Week, and you've been invited to play against Washington D.C. Football Club. That's going to be big. So, I wish you the best of luck for that."
