Police Ladies draw again at Flying Officers Cup in Abuja

Ghana’s Police Ladies drew 1-1 with Honey Badgers FC in their second game played on Wednesday at the ongoing Flying Officers Cup in Abuja Nigeria.

The Ghana Women’s Premier League side took the lead on the 17th minute when forward Juanita Aguadze lobbed the ball over goalkeeper Dzer Comfort Dzer in a goalmouth melee.

However, on the 25th minute, Honey Badgers equalized when budding striker, Atume Doosur smashed a fantastic free kick over the wall of Ghana Police Ladies and above goalkeeper Nana Ama Asantewaa’s shoulder.

Both sides from then on tried to go up but were unable to convert the chances created.

When the second half resumed, the match witnessed an end to end action but poor finishing and some brilliant saves from the two goalkeepers denied either side further goals to end the game at 1-1.

Police Ladies on Saturday held hosts, Naija FC Ratels to a goalless game in their opening match.

With two draws from two games, Police Ladies are second in the Group A standings, a point behind leaders, Royal Queens FC.

Honey Badgers FC and Naija Ratels FC have one point apiece and Police Ladies will need a win in their final group game on Friday to progress to the next round of the competition.

In other games, Group B witnessed a high scoreline as defending Champions, Bayelsa Queens got over their stuttering start to win 6-0 against Eletu Queens FC.

The champions on the opening day were beaten 1-0 by FC Robo Queens.

On Thursday, games will continue at the Flying Officers Cup, with Royal Queens battling Honey Badgers at 8am, while Oasis Ladies play against SGH Academy FC.
