Al Shabab have granted Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey special leave to travel to his home country following the death of his father.
The Saudi Pro League club expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to Partey and his family during this difficult time in an official statement published on the club’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter, wishing them strength and patience.
Al Shabab completed the signing of the Ghana international on August 12, bringing in the experienced midfielder to strengthen the team’s midfield options for the current season.
The club are hoping to benefit from Partey’s technical qualities, physical strength and extensive experience at the highest level of European football.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a distinguished career in Europe, making a name for himself in Spain with Atlético Madrid and Villarreal before moving to the Premier League, where he represented Arsenal.
Partey spent last season at Villarreal, making 32 appearances across all competitions. He did not register a goal or assist during the campaign before making the move to Saudi Arabia to join Al Shabab.
His arrival represents another significant addition to the club’s midfield as the Riyadh-based side look to strengthen their squad for the new season.
