Palmer: I have not been disqualified from the GFA presidential race

A frontrunner in the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Presidential elections Wilfred Kwaku Osei alias Palmer has denied rumours that he has been disqualified from the race.

Some media reports have suggested that some aspirants will be ejected from the race after petitions were brought against five of the seven contenders.

According to the reports petitions were submitted to the Vetting Committee challenging the eligibility of former Ghana FA vice-presidents Fred Pappoe and George Afriyie, Kurt Okraku, Dreams FC Executive chairman, Phar Rangers president Nana Yaw Amponsah and Tema Youth owner Wilfred Osei Kwaku.

However, in a sharp rebuttal on Tuesday, Palmer who went before the Committee on Saturday 'set the record straight'.

"Setting the record straight! I have not been disqualified from the GFA presidential race. Please ignore all rumours," Palmer posted on Twitter.

The Vetting Committee is expected to begin informing the aspirants of its decisions on October 2. The contenders will have between October 2 to October 4 to appeal the decisions.

The Committee is chaired by Frank Davies Esq. and the other members are Mrs Marian Barnor and lawyer Mr Emmanuel Darkwah.

Also on the committee are Reginald Laryea, a Marketing and Business Executive and Richard Akpokavie, a general secretary of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and legal practitioner.

Final decisions on the appeals will be announced on October 8 before the GFA Presidential poll on October 25.
