The foundation organises an annual sports tournament in the region, and the last edition took place in September, attracting 115 football clubs from different communities in the region.

After the round robin which started in July, Sakpoe 1 FC and Adzoati Young Boys of Weta qualified to play in the final in September, in which Sakpoe 1 FC won 1-0.

Receiving the blueprint of operations of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament, Bobie said he was impressed by the effort being put into allowing the youth to develop their talent.

He promised to channel the proposal to the chief director for further action and donated 10 footballs towards the launch of next year’s edition of the tournament.

The delegation comprised Professor Yayra Dzakadzie, Director of Research and Statistics; WOI David Evortepe, Director of Operations and Executive President and CEO of Fafaa FM; and Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe.

Speaking to Graphiconline, Patrick Amazing Duamekpor, the Sports Director of the Duamenefa Foundation in charge of the Duamenefa regional tournament, expressed his appreciation to the deputy minister for the donation.

He said the balls would support in the development of sports in the region and invited individuals and corporate organisations interested in the development of sports in the country to partner with them to unearth more talents.

Mr Duamekpor stated that the foundation aimed to alleviate poverty among the youth using sports and indicated that through the tournament, the identified talents could be exported to raise income for their clubs to enhance the image of the region.

Beyond that, he said football had become a big business that offers a life-changing experience for most of the athletes if it is managed properly and hopes more clubs in the region will take advantage of the opportunity to be part of the next edition.

He was confident that very soon, the national teams would have players who were identified through the efforts of the foundation.
