Oly need support to stay in premierhsip — Douglas Nkrumah

Striker Douglas Nkrumah says the return of Accra Great Olympics to the elite division is due to the unity of purpose of the team.

Nkrumah, one of the senior players whose contribution was crucial to the qualification of the Wonder Club, said the present positive atmosphere within the team must be carefully nurtured to permeate  all sectors of the club to ensure the team regained its status among the elite football clubs in the country.

In a telephone interview with the Graphic Sports, Douglas Nkrumah who last played for relegated side, Berekum Arsenal,  also commended the support the to management of Olympics gave the team which motivated  the players during the Division One playoff.

“The level of motivation and the overwhelming support from the teeming fans were very motivating and  this made the playing body to yearn to reciprocate  by playing our hearts out to get Olympics back to where it belongs” he noted.

He also urged the management of the club to continue with their support to sustain the club in the Premier League.

Olympics, one of the traditional football clubs in the country, was relegated four seasons ago as it remained in the soccer wilderness.

In the play off , they beat Istanbul FC 2-1, went past Okwawu United by a lone goal and sealed their qualification with another 2-1 win over Tema Youth FC.
