Ogum emerges favourite for Hearts coaching Job

The Black Starlets Head Coach, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, has emerged as the leading candidate to take over the vacant coaching position at Accra Hearts of Oak ahead of the new season.

The Phobians are searching for a new head coach following the departure of Mas-Ud Didi Dramani at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, despite the club finishing third in the Ghana Premier League.

Several names have been linked with the role in recent weeks, including Accra Lions Head Coach Richard Afoakwa. However, sources close to the club have indicated that Dr Ogum is currently the frontrunner for the position.

According to sources, Hearts of Oak's Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, together with other members of the club's board, are admirers of the former Asante Kotoko coach and are keen to see him lead the team next season.

Although no official agreement has been reached, discussions are believed to be ongoing between representatives of the club and the highly-rated tactician.

Dr Ogum, who recently guided Ghana's U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, to the Africa Cup of Nations, is said to be interested in the Hearts of Oak job and could be seen in the club's dugout next season if negotiations are successfully concluded.

The experienced coach boasts an impressive résumé, having previously managed Elmina Sharks and WAFA before enjoying success with Asante Kotoko. He famously guided the Porcupine Warriors to the Ghana Premier League title in his first season in charge.

Should the deal materialise, Hearts supporters will be hoping Dr Ogum can replicate that success and help the club reclaim the league title they last won in 2022 under Coach Samuel Boadu.
