Nyantakyi seeks WAFU re-election

Ghana will tomorrow host the Zone B congress of the West African Football Union (WAFU) at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra.

The congress will serve as a platform for member countries to take stock of activities of the organisation for last year, as well as chart a course for its operations for the New Year.

The gathering will also witness the election of a new president to steer the affairs of the sub-regional football organisation for the next four years.

 

Ghana’s FA president, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, whose term of office as president of the organisation has ended. He is being contested this time round by the president of the Nigerien Football Association, Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, as at the close of nominations last Tuesday.

So far, all the seven-member countries in Zone B, comprising Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Nigeria and Togo and hosts Ghana have confirmed their participation.
