Staging national title bouts in Kumasi is rare, and tonight's showdown is not just another fight; it is a deeply symbolic homecoming for 19-year-old Nyantekyi, who is determined to seize his moment as he steps into the ring for the first time in Kumasi, where he hails from.

Known as the Ashanti Warrior, Nyantekyi wants to use the fight to connect with his roots and make a statement as he embarks on an ambitious journey to become the first world champion to hail from the Ashanti Region.

Born and bred in a city where football reigns supreme, Nyantakyi has dared to dream differently, inspired by the legendary Ashanti warrior ethos embodied by his idol, Kofi Jantuah. From the streets of Tafo Zongo, the youngster has carried the hopes of his community, forging ahead against all odds, driven by a burning desire ttreo make history.

Tonight, as he mounts the ring for a face-off against Quartey, also known as Accra Champion, Nyantakyi is not just fighting for victory; he is fighting to honour a heritage, to inspire future generations.

Amidst the energy of the crowd at the SG Hall, the home favourite knows that he carries with him the hopes and aspirations of an entire community—a community that has watched with pride as one of their own rises to claim his rightful place on the world stage.

With every punch thrown, and every move calculated, he carries the weight of history on his shoulders.

Relocating to Accra five years ago to pursue his dreams marked a significant turning point for the self-proclaimed Ashanti Warrior. Under the tutelage of acclaimed coach Lawrence Carl Lokko at the Bronx Boxing Gym, Nyantakyi honed his skills, emerging as the LBO International featherweight champion. With an impressive record of eight wins in nine professional bouts, Nyantakyi's journey has been defined by resilience and perseverance.

However, Nyantakyi's ambitions extend beyond personal glory. He aims to shatter barriers and serve as a beacon of hope for aspiring boxers beyond the confines of Bukom, challenging the notion that boxing greatness is limited to specific regions. His ultimate goal is to become the first world champion to hail from the Ashanti Region, a feat he hopes to achieve in honour of the  Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

A recent encounter with the Asantehene at the Manyhia Palace has further fuelled Nyantakyi's determination to work hard to achieve his dreams, having received blessings and words of encouragement from Otumfuo and the support of Asanteman.

As the Ashanti Warrior prepares to do battle once more, he does so with the knowledge that win or lose, his homecoming will be remembered as a triumph—a triumph of roots, of resilience and of the unwavering belief that greatness knows no bounds.

"I carry the hopes and dreams of Asanteman with me, so I am committed to making history and inspiring others to pursue their dreams."

"I know that success requires discipline, hard work focus and God's blessing and I'm dedicated to these," Nyantakyi told the Graphic Sports.
