Nyantakyi and Songo set aside feud at KABA's memorial

The shock demise of the broadcaster, Kwadwo Asare Baffuor Acheampong popularly known as KABA appears to have thawed relations between the President of the Ghana FA, Kwesi Nyantakyi and his most popular critic, Patrick Osei Agyemang popularly known as Songo.

The pair who rarely see eye-to-eye on football-related issues presented a united front, embracing and dancing to wild cheers at the one-week celebration of the late Asempa FM presenter held last Saturday in Accra.

This comes after President of the GFA filed a $2 million libel suit against Multimedia Broadcasting Limited (MBL) for allegedly being described on its platforms as the ‘head of a mafia’.

Nyantakyi, who doubles as the Vice President of Confederation of African Football (CAF), sued two journalists, Patrick Osei Agyeman and Kofi Asare Brako also known as Abatay (who now works with Atinka FM) for consistently defaming him for years on the Multimedia Group Limited (MGL) owned radio station Asempa Fm.

Nyantakyi, an executive committee member of the Confederation of African Football, claims Asempa FM – a local-language FM station owned by MGL – tarnished his image in a series of broadcasts involving both journalists.

Songo and his employers (MGL) are currently pleading with the GFA boss to "in the spirit of reconciliation" accept GHC 40,000 as compensation for what has transpired.

However, it appears the neutrality, professionalism and affable nature of the deceased KABA though was enough to halt hostilities between the pair last Saturday.

Mr Nyantakyi after expressing his condolences to the late KABA’s family and the Multimedia Group, donated GH₵2000 and 20 boxes of bottled water to support the funeral of the late Asempa FM presenter.
