No transfer request for Malik Akowuah — Hearts of Oak

Accra Hearts of Oak say they are yet to receive any transfer request from Malik Akowuah despite reports suggesting that the midfielder has asked to quit the club.

Hearts Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kwame Opare Addo, told the Graphic Sports in an interview last Wednesday that the club were yet to receive any such request from the former Medeama player.

He refuted media reports linking the 27-year-old player back to Medeama and stated that he remained an integral part of Coach Frank Nuttall’s side for the coming season.

"I was surprised to read that Malik has handed in a transfer request. There’s no truth in the report because as a club we are yet to receive anything of that sort.

"Malik has always been a part of the team and we want to use this opportunity to tell our teeming supporters to ignore such false news about his departure," he said.

Akowuah has struggled to settle in at Hearts with inconsistent displays since joining the Phobians last season.

He was reported to have fallen out with Nuttall during the just ended GHALCA G8 tournament, claims the Hearts official described as false.

Hearts, who last won the Premier League in the 2008/09 season will be hoping to challenge for this season's Premier League title but are looking forward to a successful participation in the upcoming StarTimes GFA Gala after losing (1-2) to Dreams FC in the final of the GHALCA G8 competition.
