Nii Ayi Bonte II, Gbese Mantse, has commended the spirited efforts by all lovers of Accra Hearts of Oak towards the revival of the Oak Tree which at a point in the season appeared destined for the soccer wilderness.

The Phobians were left gasping for breath as they were consigned to an ignoble 15th position and almost packaged for relegation until the decision by former board members of the club led by Nii Ayi Bonte, Harry Zakkour, Alhaji Hearts, Isaac Tetteh, Ernest Thompson and Stephen Akwetey to support the club’s campaign.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic yesterday, Nii Ayi Bonte II noted that even though the last game of the season was crucial all Phobians could look at the positive side ahead of Sunday’s game against WAFA at Sogakope.

“Even though all is not over yet considering the way the points build among the 14 clubs in the Premier League, there is cause to hope for good things ahead of Sunday”, he stated.

Nii Ayi Bonte whose tenure as Hearts chairman saw the Phobians annex the inaugural CAF Confederation Cup commended the former directors who willingly heeded his call to rally behind the club to help salvage the club from the brink of relegation.

“I am happy that when I called them they were ready and the enthusiam they showed in galvanising the rank and file of the club was great”, he added.
