MTN FA Cup... 48 Clubs to kick off competition

Forty-eight Division One League clubs and the 16 Premier League teams will battle for honours  as the 2016/2017 MTN FA Cup competition which kicks off from March 22 to 26 with the elimination rounds.

The prestigious competition, which was launched yesterday at the M-Plaza Hotel in Accra, will see the 48 second tier teams compete in the preliminary stages before they will be joined by teams from the top flight for the next round.

According to the organisers, the participating teams have been zoned according to their various regions for the preliminary round of the competition.

In the Greater Accra Region, Emmanuel City FC  lock horns with Young Wise FC, Vision FC versus Charity Stars,  Sporting Mirren against Madina Republicans, Mightyjets engage Amidaus Professionals, Nania FC host Uncle T Stars while True Democracy settle scores with Zein FC.

In the Ashanti Region, it will be a tough challenge as Achiken FC come up against Subri Royal FC, Nacosta FC face Asokwa Deportivo, King Faisal host Buffalo FC, Atwima Mahome play Real Shooters with Quality FC welcoming BYFA.

The Upper West and Northern regions have been put together for the preliminaries with matches between Guan United and Mole National, Garu United and Steadfast, Bolga Soccer Stars versus Navrongo FC, RTU against Sankara National, while Utrecht Academy host STK Stars.

The organisers have announced GH¢600 for all the participating teams in the preliminary stages, while those who will proceed to the next round will receive MTN airtime.
