The multi sports events which took place last Saturday saw over 100 members from the 24 circuits of the Accra dioceses of the church, merge themselves into six zones to compete in five-aside-football, table tennis, volleyball, draught, ludo, tug-of-war and oware.

Converging on the park in the early hours of Saturday morning, the men aged between 30 to 70 years were taken through some aerobics sessions by Staff Sergeant Agyemang Duah of Burma Camp.

He took them through squatting, arm and shoulder training, trunk laterite, armed drills, and stomach and leg exercises.

A former national athlete and vice chairman of the Accra diocesan chairman of the Methodist Men's Fellowship, Mr Akushie Quaye appealed to the church to construct an astro turf at the University to make it much easier to train and practice sports on the surface.

"We also believe the astro turf will attract more students into sports and keeping themselves healthy, because a healthy body is a healthy mind," he noted.

The chairman of the Accra diocesan men's fellowship, Mr Daniel Annoh told the Daily Graphic the games is to make members fully fit, fraternise and have some fun.

"We believe sports is key to maintaining one's health and fitness and our members and we can use sports as a tool to unite and come together for a good cause," he stated.

He urged members of the church to eat healthy and take exercising seriously.
