Medeama will end All Stars’ unbeaten record — Adotey

CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Medeama are aiming to hand Wa All Star, their first defeat at home when the two sides clash at the Wa Park this afternoon, with the visiting side determined to halt their recent losses in the Premier League.

Last week, the Tarkwa-based side lost two outstanding games to Aduana Stars and Techiman City and appear in no mood to lose the third match in a row, even though they play against a side who have a strong home record with seven wins and three draws in 10 games.

Nonetheless, Medeama’s Technical Director, Evans Adotey, has fired a salvo that his team will be invading Wa to collect the maximum points at stake.

“We lost to Aduana Stars at home and Techiman City under strange circumstances, but we have already consigned those defeats to history and now focused on our match against All Stars today. Looking at our position on the league table, we have a fair chance of winning the league trophy, so we are not leaving anything to chance,” Mr Adotey told the Graphic Sports on telephone on Tuesday.

He said the two defeats last week had rather galvanised the players to go all out against All Stars, who are third on the Premier League log.

“They are professional players so they know what is good for them and how to go about it. That is why we are sure to beat All Stars in their own backyard to prove that we mean business,” he stressed.

When he was reminded All Stars had not lost any home match this season, Mr Adotey maintained that the record would be broken today.

“We have won away matches this season, so beating All Stars in Wa will not be any different. The boys saw what happened at Tarkwa and Techiman when we played two outstanding matches against Aduana and Techiman City, so they are determined to change the trend when we play All Stars.”
