The Maidens, former bronze medalists, drew a bye in the preliminary round for the qualifiers that kick off in October and will join the fray, playing against the winners of the Sierra Leone v The Gambia game at that stage.

The Maidens will be seeking to make their fourth successive appearance at the FIFA Under-17 WWC, by picking one of Africa’s three slots for the competition, to be hosted by Uruguay, from November 20 to December 13, 2018.

Five other countries have drawn byes in the preliminary round as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the qualifying schedule for the Under-17s.

Nigeria, Cameroun, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia, are the other seeded countries.

The preliminary matches will see Libya playing Djibouti, Zambia playing Botswana, Ethiopia against Kenya and Mali against Algeria.
