Kotoko pip Chelsea

An eight minute strike by Kotoko’s leading striker, Saddick Adams, ensured that Kotoko picked the maximum three points in the 29th week league match against Berekum Chelsea yesterday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Playing before almost an empty stadium, the Porcupine Warriors played some beautiful football and dominated the better part of the first half.
The homesters made their intention to carry the day right from the blast of referee J.A. Amenyah whistles and piled up the pressure on the visitors.

It was during one of such incursions that the visitors conceded a foul not too far from the edge of the penalty box.

The resultant kick which was given to Kotoko goal poacher, Saddick Adams, was well controlled beating the keeper for Chelsea, John K. Moosie, who was caught offguard.

Saddick could have increased his tally in the 12th minute but he headed the cross from speedster, Emmanuel Gyamfi, over the bar when there was no one in the posts.

Moosie was the busier of the two keepers as he was called on several occasions to save the day for his side.

But for his agility, Kotoko could have had a goal harvest after he expertly saved two quick balls from entering the posts in the dying minutes of the first half.

The game, however, took a different turn in the second half when the visitors took the game to their opponents with their swift and well calculated passes.

This compelled Kotoko to resort to some rough tackles and pushing and shoving of Chelsea players off the ball.

Some of the calls from the central referee against the home team were met with protestations from the home crowd, and on one of such calls, the coach for Kotoko, Steve Polack, also violently protested and referee Amenyah had to walk him off the pitch .
