Konkoni gets Black Stars call up

Bechem United arrowhead, Hafiz Konkoni has been handed an invitation to the Black Stars as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in Antananarivo on Sunday.

He becomes the first local player to be invited to the Black Stars since Coach Chris Hughton took charge of the national team about three months ago.

Konkoni caught the eyes of the national team handlers following a spectacular season for the Bechem-based club scoring 15 goals in 26 league matches.

His presence has taken the tally of invited players to 25 with Konkoni still going as the only local player to have been invited.

His invitation would come as a welcome news to many pundits who always advocate for the inclusion of local players to the national team to help boost the standard and confidence of the local players.
