Kim Grant reacts to getting the sack at Hearts of Oak

Former Accra Hearts of Oak coach, Kim Grant says he was not given enough time to bring success to the club.

Grant was sacked on New Year's eve after a 13th-month stint with the Phobians. He leaves after a run of disappointing results which included an opening day Ghana Premier League loss at home against Berekum Chelsea (1-0) which was preceded by a 2-1 loss to bitter rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the President's Cup.

However, Grant in a Facebook post said he was confident he could have turned things around and brought deserved success to all Phobian fans.

"Dear Phobians, I have now left my post as head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak and would like to thank you unconditionally for the amazing support throughout this last year," Grant said in a Facebook post.

"I only wish I was given time to bring success to this great club, which I know and believe I would have achieved the success you the supporters deserve.

"I wish all involved in the club future success and as one door closes another door opens".

Hearts in a statement announcing Grant's sacking said Edward Nii Odoom would take over with immediate effect as the head coach for their next game against Medeama SC away in Tarkwa.

"Accra Hearts of Oak and Director of Football Kim Grant have parted ways. Edward Nii Odoom takes over with immediate effect as the head coach. The club would like to ask for continuous support for Coach Odoom and we wish Coach Grant the very best in his future endeavours," the statement said.

Grant led Hearts to the semi-finals of the NC Special Competition (tier I) during his tenure.
