K.K. Sarpong to claim GH¢600,000 from Kotoko
Barely a week after breaking his silence since he quit his job as Kumasi Asante Kotoko CEO, Dr. K.K. Sarpong has dropped yet another bombshell, demanding GHc600,000.00 from the Porcupine Warriors being money owed him during his three-year tenure.

The former Kotoko capo last week stated that his deepest regret had been the decision to head Kotoko and further amplified that assertion yesterday when he revealed that: “I have been associated with several institutions in my life, including the Tema Oil Refinery, State Minning Corporation, Sekondi College and many others, but just three years’ association with sports has brought so much trouble to me”.
Speaking to Hot FM, an Accra-based radio station, an apparently very bitter Dr. Sarpong disclosed that the owner of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, was aware of the club’s indebtedness to him, but was unhappy about the silence of current CEO of the the club, Opoku Nt,i and board members, such as Paul Adu Gyamfi and Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, who worked with him during his tenure.
He said the amounts were his personal monies, some of which were borrowed to run Kotoko, saying he needed that money to give to charity specifically, the physically challenged, some of whom he had adopted since he turned 60.
“When I took over Kotoko, the club was indebted to some board members, including Kwabena Kesse, whose financial institution Kotoko were owing about GHc500,000. I made a personal appeal to him and we agreed on a repayment plan.
“Indeed, my decision to constantly look out for sponsorship for Kotoko was to use the monies from such deals to pay the debts which Kotoko were owing before I took over.
“Unfortunately most of the sponsorship deals which were secured during my tenure could not be sustained and the last one with Interplast ended recently without any effort to renew them”, Dr Sarpong lamented.
He said, “it is regrettable that after all my efforts to ensure that Kotoko was managed well some people will choose to malign me”. .
