Last year, Zigah picked the winner’s trophy after recording a net score of 62, while Jessica finished first in the ladies event with a score of 70.

The defending champions will, however, not have it as easy on Saturday as they face a potentially stiff challenge from an estimated 120 other golfers who are expected to participate in the tournament.

Experienced golfers such as Teye Lartey Gberbie, Cathy Boateng and Mona Myles-Lamptey are strong contenders and have already recorded impressive scores on the Sakumono course in the build-up to the event.

According to Francis Akwasi Poku, the Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club, the competition aims to bring golfers and their families closer together, and as such, there will also be a nine-hole medal play competition for junior golfers under the age of 15.

He also disclosed that prizes will be given for the top five golfers in both male and female categories, as well as the top three golfers in the juniors category.

There will be awards also for the Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin.

The one-day competition is sponsored by Coca-Cola, Tang Palace Hotel, Tractor Services Limited, Holiday Inn and Starlite.
