J. A. Biney Ping-pong League begins tomorrow

Twenty clubs, including the security services, will compete for honours in the inaugural Greater Accra Table Tennis League which begins tomorrow at the Dayaram Gangaram Hathiramani Hall at the Accra Stadium.


The clubs are the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Hope Table Tennis Foundation, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Police Service, Divine Loopers, Team Courage, Ghana Army, Madina Stars, Faith Table Tennis Club, Ghana National Fire Service and Aba Mu Ewie Table Tennis Club.

The rest are Rising Star Sports Academy, Ghana Navy, Rising Star Sports Foundation, Kings Royal Academy, Blue Rose Table Tennis Club, Top Spinners, Tiger Sharks, Pot Sports and Ga Mashie Table Tennis Club.

The league, which is expected to last for 10 weeks, will climax on October 1, 2022.
It is aimed at reviving the sport in the region to attract the youth to the game through job creation and prevent social vices.

The league is being sponsored by J.A. Biney and Company Limited, manufacturers of quality disinfectants and liquid soaps in Ghana.

The president of the Greater Accra Table Tennis Association, Mr Solomon Akonnor, told Daily Graphic that the competition would unearth talents and make the sport a pastime in the region.
